GAME ON FOR 250 MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

 

More than 250 students, grades 6-8, will put on their game-face for the After-School All-Stars’ (ASAS) fifth annual All-Star Sports Showdown. Aspiring athletes from Waianae Intermediate, Nanakuli Intermediate, Washington Middle, Central Middle, Kalakaua Middle, Dole Intermediate, King Intermediate and Jarrett Middle Schools’ ASAS after school program will compete in flag football, volleyball, and bocce ball for the ultimate sports showdown. Community partner for the event, Business Solution Technologies (BST), and 20 members of their staff will serve as referees, umpires and cheerleaders, and BST, McDonalds of Hawaii and Frito Lay Hawaii will provide lunch and refreshments for all participants.

 

            WHAT:  5th Annual After-School All-Stars Showdown

 

            WHEN:  Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

 

            WHERE: Waianae Intermediate School 85-626 Farrington Highway

 

             WHO:   250 Student Athletes, After-School All-Star executives and volunteers

                       

ASAS Hawaii, a nonprofit organization, provides comprehensive after-school programs serving 11 middle schools on Oahu and the Big Island and nearly 2,000 youth. The afterschool program provides at-risk middle school students academic support, enrichment opportunities and health/fitness activities.
